Privacy policy

Effective date: August 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Their Little Language handles information when an adult visits our website, places an order, personalizes a book, records an optional voice keepsake, reviews a proof, joins the birthday club, or contacts us.

Adult-managed service. Our website, checkout, personalization, and approval experiences are for adults. A parent, legal guardian, or authorized adult must provide and approve any information about a child.

1. Information we collect

  • Adult contact and order information. Name, email, telephone number when provided, billing and delivery address, order details, payment status, discounts, taxes, delivery status, and customer-care messages.
  • Personalization information. A first name or nickname, family words or phrases, meanings, memories, dedication, language, chosen character, color mood, and the edits and approvals needed to make the book.
  • Optional voice keepsakes. Short recordings submitted for the listening feature, together with the related word and its book entry.
  • Website information. Device, browser, approximate location, pages visited, and security or fraud signals that help the site work and protect orders.
  • Communications. Messages, support requests, proof feedback, gift details, birthday reminders, and marketing choices.

2. Information you should not submit

Please do not submit a child's full legal name, exact birth date, home address, school, medical or education records, government identifiers, financial information, passwords, precise location, biometric information, or any detail that is not needed to make the book. Use a first name or nickname and keep memories brief.

3. How we use information

We use information to operate checkout, create and translate the ordered book, produce artwork and lettering, provide a complete proof, make requested changes, print and deliver the approved book, provide the optional listening feature, run gift and birthday-book experiences, answer questions, prevent misuse, keep records required by law, and improve the reliability of our service.

4. Creative tools and human review

Some pages are made with carefully configured creative tools. We use only the information needed to make the ordered book, limit unnecessary details, and review every page before it is offered for approval. Voice recordings are not used to create illustrations. We do not authorize family personalization information for targeted advertising or unrelated training.

5. When information is shared

We share only what is reasonably needed with selected providers that help us run checkout and payment, create and review the book, host and protect private files, send email, print and deliver approved books, prevent fraud, provide customer care, and meet legal or professional obligations. A printer or carrier receives the approved production file and the delivery information needed to complete the order, not the family's full intake history.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect people or rights, to investigate fraud, during a business transaction subject to appropriate protections, or at the adult customer's direction.

6. Voice keepsakes

The voice feature is optional. Recordings are kept private and used only to provide the listening experience selected for the book. The printed listening mark opens a protected playback page. Removing a recording later may disable playback from the printed book, and we will explain that effect before completing a deletion request.

7. How long we keep information

We keep order and transaction records for the period required for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, disputes, and legal obligations. Working personalization files and production files are normally removed 30 days after delivery. An optional voice keepsake may be kept longer so the printed listening feature continues to work. Restricted backup copies may remain briefly until the normal backup cycle completes.

8. Choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, object to or limit certain uses, withdraw consent, or appeal a decision. You may also unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time. Some information must be kept to complete an order or meet legal obligations.

To make a request, email hello@theirlittlelanguage.com. We may need to verify that the request comes from the adult connected to the order.

9. Security

We use access controls, private links, protected storage, review safeguards, and limited staff access designed to protect family information. No online service can promise absolute security, so please share only what is needed for the keepsake.

10. Children

Children should not use the service or submit information directly. If you believe a child submitted information without adult permission, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

11. International handling

Service providers may handle information in the United States or other countries. Where required, we use appropriate protections for information transferred across borders.

12. Changes and contact

We may update this Policy as the service changes. The effective date above shows the latest version. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to hello@theirlittlelanguage.com.
