Terms of service
Effective date: August 30, 2026
These Terms govern theirlittlelanguage.com, the private personalization and proof experience, and purchases from Their Little Language. By using the site, placing an order, submitting personalization, or approving a proof, you agree to these Terms and the linked policies.
1. Adult responsibility
You must be at least 18 and legally able to place an order. If a book includes information about a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian or have permission from the parent or legal guardian. Children should not use checkout, personalization, recording, or approval pages directly.
2. The keepsake
Their Little Language is an adult-purchased family keepsake, not a toy, educational aid, medical product, or speech-development service. Each edition, page count, copy count, included digital copy, revision allowance, price, and delivery offer is described on the product page at the time of purchase.
3. Orders and payment
An order is complete only after checkout accepts payment and we send confirmation. We may decline or cancel an order for payment failure, fraud, prohibited content, unavailable delivery, pricing error, production impossibility, or a request that cannot be made safely or beautifully. If we cancel an order before work is supplied, we will provide the refund required by law and our refund policy.
4. Personalization information
You are responsible for the spelling, meanings, memories, pronunciation, language, dedication, character choice, color mood, delivery information, and other details you submit. Do not submit sensitive information or content you do not have permission to use. We may ask for clarification, make small readability adjustments, or refuse content that is unlawful, harmful, hateful, sexual, invasive, infringing, or otherwise unsuitable for a family keepsake.
5. Permission to make the order
You keep any rights you have in the material you submit. You give us a limited permission to receive, translate where requested, edit, design, review, reproduce, print, deliver, support, protect, and document the order. This permission allows us to work with carefully selected service providers only as needed to complete those tasks. It does not give us permission to use a child's personalization in advertising, a public portfolio, testimonials, or social media. Any public use requires separate, specific, optional permission from an authorized adult.
6. Creative tools and review
Pages may be created with carefully configured creative tools and are checked before they reach you. Creative output can contain errors, so the complete proof is the controlling opportunity to review spelling, artwork, lettering, page numbers, directory entries, placement, and the overall book. Nothing is sent to print until the adult connected to the order gives final approval and our quality review is complete.
7. Proofs, changes, and approval
Each launch edition includes one complete proof and one consolidated round of changes unless the product page says otherwise. Please send all requested changes together by the proof deadline. Approval confirms that the proof is correct and authorizes us to prepare the approved version for printing. A later change may require a new fee or may be impossible once printing begins.
8. Optional voice keepsakes
The voice feature is optional and, while offered as included, does not add a separate charge. The adult must submit a clear recording for every selected entry. We test each listening mark before it can be included. If a recording or mark does not pass, we may request a new recording or leave the feature out only with the adult's knowledge. Playback requires a compatible camera or code-reading app, internet access, and a supported browser. Removing a recording later can disable playback from the printed book.
9. Gifts
A gift purchaser may send a private invitation to an authorized adult to personalize and approve the book. The recipient must confirm their authority before adding family information. The purchaser remains responsible for payment, while the authorized recipient controls the private personalization and proof unless we agree otherwise in writing.
10. Birthday club
The birthday club sends reminders so an adult can add new words and prepare a future book. It does not place an order or charge a payment method automatically. A returning birthday book may receive the discount shown when the invitation is issued. The adult must review the current edition, price, delivery address, and book details and complete a new purchase before another book is made.
11. Pricing, tax, and delivery
Prices are shown in U.S. dollars unless stated otherwise. Applicable taxes appear at checkout. Complimentary standard delivery is currently offered to eligible U.S. addresses. Express delivery may cost extra when shown. Arrival estimates begin after final proof approval and are estimates, not guaranteed event dates. The customer is responsible for a complete, accurate delivery address.
12. Cancellations, returns, and problems
Because every book is personalized, cancellation and return rights change once custom work begins and again once printing begins. The current Orders, Changes & Returns and Shipping & Delivery policies are part of these Terms. If a book arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from the approved proof, contact us promptly with the order number and clear photographs so we can review the problem.
13. Acceptable use
You may not misuse the site, interfere with its security, attempt unauthorized access, submit malicious material, impersonate another person, violate another person's rights, scrape private areas, or use the service for unlawful or abusive purposes.
14. Our materials
The site, brand, templates, layout system, original artwork not supplied by a customer, and service materials belong to us or our licensors. You may use the delivered personalized book and included digital copy for personal and family purposes. Commercial reproduction, resale of digital files, or public redistribution requires written permission.
15. Service availability
We work to keep the service available and accurate, but maintenance, provider outages, safety reviews, or events outside our control may cause delay. We may improve, replace, suspend, or discontinue a feature. We will not use a feature change to print a materially different book without the adult's approval.
16. Disclaimers and responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the service is provided as available and without promises that cannot reasonably be made for a personalized, creative product. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited. Our responsibility for a claim connected to an order will not exceed the amount paid for that order, except where a different remedy is required by law.
17. Applicable law and disputes
These Terms are governed by applicable U.S. law, while mandatory consumer protections in the place where you live remain available. Before filing a claim, we encourage you to email us so we can try to resolve it. Nothing prevents a customer from using a court, small-claims process, regulator, or other remedy available under mandatory law.
18. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms for future use of the service. The version accepted for an existing order continues to govern that order unless a change is required by law or agreed with you. Questions can be sent to hello@theirlittlelanguage.com.
